Oculus-event: Stand-alone earphone, VR social networking, rift now works on cheaper PCs

Facebook made a series of announcements on the oculus connect 3 event yesterday. In addition to revealing, that the touch controller for $199 on December 6 launch (as predicted), rift would support for less powerful PCs and a $10 million investment in diversity initiatives the company introduced a stand-alone prototype headphones, his vision for VR in social media.

One of the questions was round-tripping via trailing cable PC operated with virtual reality of headsets. Backpack PCs like the ZOTAC and MSI offer a solution, but they require even users, powerful hardware to wear with them.

Oculus solution comes in the form of a totally wireless headphones, known as Santa Cruz. Described as a mid range compromise between the Galaxy-powered gear VR and the gap, "Inside-out tracking" functions, the four wide-angle cameras around the edges and front for positional movement – which means that, in contrast to the rift and Vive, are used no external sensors required to keep track of the players. Qualcomm Snapdragon VR820 reference headphone uses the same inside-out technology.

Via its online wireless headphones the cloud uses for real-time streaming of VR content. The computing power comes out of the small box on the back of the unit. It's still a proof-of-concept, but the Santa Cruz could be one of the many standalone VR systems in the future.

On the software side of things revealed oculus oculus avatars. Thus, owners of Rift, customizable virtual representations of themselves can create that mimic the user's face and upper body movements.

With the avatars, groups of up to eight people can hang in virtual landscapes. They can be used also in certain games. Zuckerberg has shown how he was able to get his wife, while in the people's Republic, to remove his virtual phone to the real world of Priscilla CHAN to speak of and a call, while she saw only his avatar.

More news from the event included Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe announcement that thanks to two new image systems - the crack can time warp and Spacewarp smoothing - now on cheaper, less powerful PCs run: around $499 minimum, rather than $1000

The company finally reveals it's $10 million expenditure for diversity initiatives. "It is no secret that this community needs even broader," said project head ebony Peay Ramirez, oculus for diversity. "Virtual reality will only succeed if it represents a diverse ecosystem that speaks to various people and opinions. We want to vote to see a variety of rich. "We know that is a platform which with different thoughts, personalities, an appealing built perspectives and ideas and dynamic."

Addressing diversity seemed oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey absence make more noticeable. After his Association last month was revealed with a pro-TRUMPF group that creates anti-Hillary Meme decided not the Conference to participate in Luckey's, because he wanted to be a distraction. It is the first time that he is a large oculus missed event.
